WEEK 1, JUNE

Hi diary! Today I'm very very happy because I have just finished my exams ! Now I'm going to relax a lot :) :)
I hope that i don't need to recover any subject...

TIME FOR SELVE EVALUATION

My learning:
1. DID YOU WORK HARD? Yes, I did. I think that during this course I've worked harder than another years.
2. DID YOU ORGANIZE YOUR WORK WEEK BY WEEK? I tried to organize my work but not always it is possible because.
3. WHAT WAS MORE DIFFICULT FOR YOU? The most difficult thing for me is to write week by week "my diary" in the blog, because often i forget this task.
4. WHAT DID YOU LEARN?( new grammar, vocab..) I learn a lot of new vocabulary (students book) i I also learned a lot of grammar (grammar bank, work book)
5. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO IMPROVE? I think that the most important thing that I need to improve is my pronunciation but I'm working hard in it

The activities:

Write about the different activities.Use I like/don't like.. I prefer/ My favourite..
magazine reading and activities/dialogues/writings/DVD
Films and summaries/Oral presentation/Extra-points projects
My blog preparation

My favorite magazine is the last that we have red "Americans love their flag". I don't like to do any writing but I must. The activities that I love to do is watching films! I like to record oral presentations too because I can work with my pronunciation and improve myself.

In conclusion,

WHAT'S YOUR BEST ACTIVITY/ACTIVITIES THIS COURSE? (link it)
DID YOU LIKE WORKING IN THE LANGUAGE ROOM?
WHY/WHY NOT?

My best activity I think that is the protuction that I have done with my friend Paula: "Our cooking lessons" Clik here to see it.

I like a lot working in the language room because I think that is a great method to learn English!

BATTLE OF THE SEXES: UNIT 1

This unit talks about the equality / inequality of the sexes.

In this unit we have worked:

. Adjectives and Prepositions :
Certain adjectives is English are always followed by a particular preposition. You should try to learn these combinations by heart as they may be different in your language. Example: She was worried about the exam.

.Phrasal Verbs I : When a verb is used together with a preposition or an adverb, it is called a phrasal verb. A phrasal verb has a different meaning from the meaning of the verb alone. Example: They don't have to look after their children.

.Grammar: Present simple and present continuous and time Expressions:
PS: verb(+s,es) PC: am/is/are + verb+ing
TIME EXPRESSIONS: Right now, usually, every day, seldom, never, at present, once a week, on Fridays, generally.

.Basic Skills: Word Order: In English, a sentence has got a basic word order. A sentence has usually got a subject and a verb. There may be other parts in the sentence. The basic order is:
SUBJECT+VERB+OBJECT+MANNER (how)+PLACE (where)+ TIME (when)

. Writing: EXAMS? YES!

Is it really necessary to do exams? Many people think that the teacher's opinion is enough to evaluate the student's work. I disagree with this opinion. It is better to do exams that sow objective marks.

The main exam's advantage is that they promote the study, because the studen don't want to fail them.
Another benefit is that the exams help to organize the school's contents because they're often very periodical.

In fact, I think that doing exams is very necessary and useful, obviating that I don't like to study very much
.

MAY , WEEK 4

Hi diary :( I'm very worried because tomorrow I must to do an English exam! I hope that will be easy...
During the next week I've got a lot of exams too.

ORAL PRESENTATION

RADIO PRESENTER: Good evening. This is Clara Boix introducing tonight's edition of "What do you think...?" This evening our subject is global warming , and what you can do to help the planet. My gue3sts are Paula Omedes, editor of the monthly magazine Green Themes...

PAULA OMEDES: Good evening

PRESENTER: ... and Chris Reader, columnist and politician.

CHRIS: Evening

PRESENTER: And don't forget that we'll be taking your calls and questions, too. The number to ring, as always, is 0800987456. So, Paula, What can we do to save the planet? Or is too late?

PAULA: No, Clara, it's never too late. The important thing to remember is that everyone can help in the fight against global warming. In our family, for example, we recycle our rubbish, we shower instead of taking baths, we make sure we turn off the lights when we leave the room as well as electronic equipment when it's not being used, and I always choose seasonal produce...

CHRIS: Excuse me, Paula, but do you really think turning off a few electric lights will make any difference?

PAULA: You know, Chris, I think it can. Take a simple example: you have a shower instead of a bath. That way you save about 50 liters of water. Use a glass of water when you clean your teeth instead of leaving the tap running, you save 24 liters of water. Then multiply those figures by the inhabitants of a big city such as London, and that's a lot of resources being saved.

CHRIS: Sorry, Lisa, but frankly I just don't buy it.
Take the government's sudden obsession with global warming.
If you ask me, the government is just drawing the publics attention away from the real problems in society today, like crime, national security, unemployment...

PRESENTER: If I can' interrupt for a moment, our first caller this evening is Roger from Woking.
Hi, Roger, I think you have a question for us.

ROGER: Yes, thank you, I have a lump on my nose. It's very itchy and I've tried everything to...

PRESENTER: Umm, Roger, Roger,... if I could just stop you there, I think you've called the wrong programme. Doctors' Weekly is now on Tuesday night...

Hi my loved class! During this oral presentation I'm going to explain you our precious adventure in Italy, but I'll only explain the four days because there are so many things to talk about. I'll explain some of the best moments too. I hope that you like it!

FIRST DAY

At 5:00 p.m I was already nervous. My father was helping me to carry the bag in the car and I was pressing him because I must be in the airport at half past five. I leave behind my house and I went to the Girona's airport. Inside, there were most of my friends. I said goodbye to my family and I went to check in my bag. My friends and I were very excited!

After that, we took the plane to Italy. After an our, we were walking in Italian's country. We met our chauffeur, and we went to Hotel Park California.

Anna gave us the room's key and we entered in: It was FANTASTIC.

We had diner in the Hotel's Park and then we went to “sleep”.

SECOND DAY

The next morning, we had breakfast in the hotel canteen and took the bus to went to the centre of Pisa. There we visited the famous Tower of Pisa, the baptisterio and the duomo.

Then we had lunch in a restaurant: we ate pasta, meat and a delicious ice-crem. We had a lot of free time in Pisa, so we enjoyed a lot.

In the afternoon we went to Sant Gimigniano, a great medieval village. We walked a lot so we were too tried. Finally, we arrived in Siena, and we had diner in a “good” fast-food restaurant.

We went to slept at the hotel.

THIRD AND FOURTH DAY

When our clock alarm rang, we got up and went to have breakfast in the hotel's canteen. I think that I drunk too much café...

After that went to visit the duomo of Siena and La Piaza di Campo. Both were a beauty places. Everybody were impressed ! Later, we went to the hotel to get the bags and we moved to Firenze. I love Firenze!

We arrived in the hotel, we left our bags and we went to have lunch in a Restaurant. We were so hungry. We ate pasta.

In the afternoon we visited another some important places, but we had a lot of free time too. The girls went to had a look in the shops.

At night we had diner at the same restaurant and we came back to the hotel to slept.

During the next day, we stayed in Firenze too. We visited the Oficci's Gallery and David.

In conclusion, these with my class had been a great days that I always will remember!

DIALOGUE: GIVING NEWS

Clara: Paula, Paula! Look at this! I don't believe it!
Paula: Well, tell me! What don't you believe?
Clara: I passed all of my exams.
Paula: Hey! Well done! That's great news. What grades did you get?
Clara: Four As, two Bs and a C
Paula: No! Really? That's incredible! How on earth did you do that?
Clara: I dunno. I must be a genius.
Paula: So are you going to celebrate?
Clara: Yes. I can't wait to tell Mum and Dad. I'm going to call them right now.

DIALOGUE:ASKING ABOUT RULES

Paula: Excuse me.
Clara: Yes?
Paula: I'm afraid you can't park your motorcycle there.
Clara: Oh right, sorry. Where am I allowed to park?
Paula: Parking is prohibited in all of this area.
Clara: I just wanted to go into this shop for a moment.
Paula: Sorry, but you'll have to park somewhere else.
Clara: Is there anywhere near here?
Paula: Yes, you could try Walton Street, down there.
Clara: OK then. Thanks for your help

DIALOGUE: INVITATIONS AND EXCUSES

Clara: Hey look, Paula. That DJ is playing again this weekend.
Paula: Yeah? Where's he playing?
Clara: At The Warehouse on Friday
Paula: Right. I'm definitely going to that. Would you like to go with me?
Clara: I'd love to, but I'm afraid I can't. My parents wouldn't be very happy about it.
Paula: Go on! They wouldn't mind.
Clara: No, sorry. I'm supposed to be going out with them that night anyway.
Paula: That's a shame. Oh well, do you fancy going out another night?
Clara: I'll think about it, OK?

MUSIC: SPOTIFY

The music companies, once rich, have been brought to their knees by MP3 piracy and a younger generation who think that music should be free. While musicians have responded by returning to live performances, the music industry, desperate to find a way of making money on the internet, is placing its hopes on Spotify. For music fans, this Swedish web service offers the best of both worlds: free music that is legal. You just take a free subscription to the service, listen to (almost) any music you want, and agree to be subjected to the occasional advert in return. The music companies, who are all shareholders, get a share of the profits. There is a possible blot on the horizon, however. Despite having more than 2.5 million registered users, it appears that the company is losing money. Better enjoy it while it lasts...

WRITING: A DISCUSSION ESSAY

Is Internet better than books?
In my opinion, of course it is!
Before Internet was invented, people had to use another method to search information and to communicate with each other. Usually, they had to read some books to find information. Nowadays, people can enjoy Internet's advantages like sending emails, searching, information, downloading programs, films, music...
Moreover mosts books' disadvantage is that the publishing process wastes some paper and this is not good for the environment.
In conclusion, I think Internet is the best invention because it offers more possibilities than books and is a great new technology

WRITING: A FORMAL LETTER

Dear Sir or Madam,
I'm writing to get information about lottery funds for a community project in my little town.
St.Miquel de Campmajor, is a small and beautiful town near to Banyolas.

There aren't many interesting places in and around the town, and there aren't many villagers too. The place is very quiet and clean but is a bit isolated. For that reason, I would install a network of buses to transport people to Banyolas.

This would be great for the village!
I would be great if you could send me information about lottery grants. If you have any questions about my project, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully,

CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC

Based on Sophie Kinsella's bestselling novels, Confessions of a s Shopaholic is about a journalist,
Rebecca Bloomwood, who is addicted to shopping, Considering today's economy, this is either the best time for a movie about someone who buys too many clothes, or the worst. Certainly, when people are losing their jobs, it is more difficult to sympathize with a character whose big problem is that she can't resist buying shoes. However, Isla Fisher's interpretation of Rebecca is charming enough to overcome this problem. As with The Devil Wears Prada, the anti-consumerist moral is this film is subverted by images of Rebecca in various designer clothe. But it is good fun, with some genuinely hilarious moments, and that is all it intends to be

AN ARTICLE: LIVING WITH A DISABILITY

My name's Clara and I'm deaf since 2000. I lost the hearing when I was traveling with my family in a brutal car accident. It was a very hard thing to accept.

My life has changed a lot since I am deaf but now I already know the language of the deaf so my life is becoming easier.
I don't need much help because I have learned to adapt to my new situation, but on of the things that annoy me is that people feel sorry for me. I think that they don't understand that I'm a normal person...
People usually want to help me, but I don't need usually help!!

In conclusion, being deaf is not a disadvantage if you try to improve yourself. If you do that, you will become the happiest person in the world.
